2019 Lakewood Arts Gallery - Masks & Hats Contest - 1st Place Mask
2018 International Federation of Leather Guilds - Beginners Sculpted Leather 1st Place
When I started working with leather, I was amazed by the flexibility and adaptability it offers. With the support of my family and friends, I continue to learn new techniques and gather new sources of inspiration. I am a member of the Board of Directors of the Columbine Leather Guild and have been one at the Lakewood Arts Council and its Gallery resident for 2 years.
In 2018 and 2019, I entered in competition at the International Federation of Leather Guilds Show where I was presented with First Place in the Sculpted Leather Category. In 2019, I got the "Best Mask" award at the Mask and Hats Art Contest at the Lakewood Arts Gallery in Denver, CO.
I am embarking in an educational journey. I want to share what I have learned. I am preparing classes and training guides for projects that require minimum tools and skills, yet they will result in a beautiful, finished Art piece. I believe this will light the passion to pursue leathercraft. Then my work will be done, the Leather Masters can take over and carry the students to new leather frontiers.
With gratitude,
Ollie

Robert Srader
Growing up in Montana, I was surrounded by nature, mountains, wildlife and cowboys. In 2003 I came across a piece of art made from leather and I immediately fell in love with the art process.

Working with leather brings me absolute joy and is a wonderful contrast to the logical left-brained discipline of my lifelong expertise of working with computers.

I mostly do extreme 3D embossed leather portraits, all one-of-a-kind, fine art pieces. The technique was pioneered in the 1980’s by Robb Barr and followed in the 1990’s by J.F. Schoonover, who became my mentor.

My sincere hope is that “You will receive even more joy from my art as I experienced creating it”
Respectfully,
Robert
